Mary is the Upper School Piano Instructor at a private day and boarding school. The school has a unique half day Music Conservatory program. She has over 20 years as a private piano teacher, church musician, choral director and accompanist. In addition to her music experience, Mary has a passion for integrating technology into the classroom and has a M.Ed. in Educational Technology. Her teaching philosophy embodies the belief that everyone is capable of learning in their own way, music should be fun and is a powerful vehicle by which we can spread love to the world. Her overall goal is to instill a lifetime love of music in all students. Whether the goal is to learn piano as a hobby, or to pursue music as a vocation, Mary will strive to personalize your experience and meet you where you are.
Family
Mary grew up in South Elgin, IL (a suburb of Chicago) with three other sisters. She moved to Indianapolis, IN at 11 years old. She has been happily married for 30 years this March (2020) to husband Jim. They met in college at the University of Evansville. They have two children; Parker a recent law school graduate and Katie, a licensed massage therapist and Nursing Student. In 1994 they moved from my hometown of Indianapolis, IN to Marietta, GA. Mary embraced the southern lifestyle immediately. After 17 years of building many relationships and being a part of the community Mary and her family took the plunge and moved further south to Clermont, FL Arriving in June of 2011 they set to work on adopting this small town as home. They are enjoying the beautiful scenery, the lakes and the weather!
My Goals and Dreams
When not teaching, studying or attending concerts, recitals and competitions with students you can find Mary reading, connecting with friends and family, or enjoying a nice glass of wine or practicing yoga. She and her husband love to travel - so far the list includes Vienna, Budapest, Jamaica and Italy!
